The Canarian archipelago offers sailors a whole new world to explore. Whilst keen sailors can choose to visit as many of the islands as time allows, those with less ambitious plans may enjoy the small uncrowded anchorages and fishing harbours in the immediate vicinity such as Los Lobos or Lanzarote. The Canary Islands situated at 28N-16W, has average temperatures that rarely fall below 18C in winter and climb above 24C in summer, making Fuerteventura a 12 month cruising paradise. The prevailing NE trade winds provide ideal sailing in moderate seas.
The clear blue Atlantic waters surrounding the islands are home to a large variety of sea mammals including whales, dolphins and porpoises. It is not unusual to see loggerhead turtles and flying fish regularly skim the waves.
